Heading to Guatemala, we knew the coffee here was going to be next level. We would soon find out that the growing cafe scene in Antigua is just as strong as its coffee.
Known for its world-famous blends, Guatemala is an extraordinary place for growing java. The fertile volcanic soil, climate, and elevation all contribute to cultivating the export that has been fueling the country’s economy for over one hundred fifty years. With tasteful notes revealing a full body, rich chocolatey-cocoa flavor, and a toffee-like sweetness, the coffee here slaps.
We made it our mission to try as many cafes during our time in Antigua and here are some of our favorites during our stay…

Cafe Boheme
Don’t be fooled when you walk into Cafe Boheme. Head up the stairs to the terrace and be greeted by a scenic rooftop with some amazing views and a relaxed ambiance. There is plenty of space to enjoy their delicious food and smoothies. All organic everything on the menu with heaps of vegetarian and vegan options that are highly recommended. You can get a lot of work done here because there is plenty of space and a strong wifi signal. You can even pop into even a private room to take a meeting or teach a class.
Cafe Boheme is eco-friendly and even has biodegradable straws. You’ll come for the food but stay for the atmosphere. On a busy workday, we spent almost 3 hours here and the staff couldn’t be any more hospitable. The acai bowl was on point and the dulce banana smoothie was insane! A fabulous rooftop with a volcano view, friendly staff, delicious food, and good internet…What more can you ask for?

Which café are you heading to?!
As average joe, joe drinkers, we appreciate a good cup. But by no means are we aficionados. So this may not be the most useful list for where to technically find the best coffee in town. We’ll leave that up to you to decide. More of a list of where you can support a locally owned business, get a healthy breakfast, fresh smoothie, tasty drink, delicious treat, strong wifi signal, or start your day with a vibe type list.
